Staff and physicians are now working through a process to fully integrate clinical and support services and medical staff organization.
“Partnering with Hamilton Health Sciences was the right move,” says Kurt Whitnell, Board of Directors, Hamilton Health Sciences. “In January, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care announced a $4.9 million capital grant for vital safety and environmental upgrades at West Lincoln. This funding will be used to upgrade critical building systems so that we can continue to care for patients in our community."
Work will include: upgrades to the fire alarm and nurse call systems; modernizubg building infrastructure including the cooling/heating system, plumbing and electrical systems; replacing flooring; and repairing and refreshing wall surfaces.
"We are also continuing to make redevelopment a priority and are working alongside our partners at the HNHB LHIN and the Ministry to make this project a reality," adds Brenda. "Late in January, as a positive step forward, the HNHB LHIN endorsed our pre-capital submission for full redevelopment of the WLMH site. The submission is now with the Ministry and we are optimistic that the Ministry will be supportive so that we can start the redevelopment planning."
