Notice: Nurse recruitment scam using Chedoke Hospital/Hamilton Health Sciences
Recently, Hamilton Health Sciences has received reports of a fraudulent nursing recruitment program targeting nurses in the Philippines. The scam, originating from outside of Canada, attempts to “recruit” and collect registration fees from nurses who apply to false job postings for career opportunities at Chedoke Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.

Applicants receive a follow up e-mail stating that they have been selected for a nursing position at Chedoke Hospital, and are instructed to make a payment via Western Union in order to attend a mandatory “Information Coaching” session.

Please know that Hamilton Health Sciences and its hospitals do not actively recruit nursing or other staff from abroad, do not recruit through e-mail, and will never ask job applicants to send money as part of the job application process.

If you have received an e-mail or other communication similar to that described above, contact your local police station or anti-fraud agency. Do not respond to any e-mails that you suspect may be part of a scam.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre has been notified of this matter and will conduct further investigation.
